NC DETECT tracks ED visits for snakebites based on a case definition that looks for mention of snakebites in the chief complaint or triage notes OR a diagnosis (ICD-10-CM code) of a snakebite. The complete definition is available on the Case Definitions page.

As shown on the graph below, the number of ED visits for snakebites is higher in 2017 compared to 2016, with a noticeable difference in February. Authorized users can see line level information on snakebites for their respective counties. Please contact us for more information.
