Weekly updates on emergency department visits for heat-related illness as well as prevention tips are available on the NC Division of Public Health’s website at: https://publichealth.nc.gov/chronicdiseaseandinjury/heat.htm.

In addition authorized NC DETECT users can review county-level heat-related illness data on the General Dashboards Heat Tab and in the Syndrome Line Listing report.  Ambient air temperature data collated by the State Climate Office are also available in NC DETECT.

Two graphs available on the NC DETECT heat dashboard are shown below. Male patients aged 25-64 are the predominate group going to the ED for heat-related illness in NC.
