Use this dashboard to view ZIP, county, and state-level ED visit trends for asthma and COPD from 2017-present. The population denominator data used in this dashboard are from the North Carolina State Demographer platform. Annual data were last updated on July 1, 2024. Monthly trends are updated around the 15th of each month.

Asthma and COPD ED visits are identified based on ICD-10-CM codes. Trends may be impacted by missing data. Please contact us with any questions!

CDC Wonder Death certificate data. Typically, asthma and COPD are combined into a Chronic Lower Respiratory Disease (CLRD) category for monitoring mortality trends.
CDC Asthma Surveillance Data National and state-level data on a variety of asthma indicators including prevalence, healthcare utilization, and mortality
CDC COPD Data and Statistics National trends and maps (some down to the census tract level). National maps show death rates, county and census-tract level show prevalence estimates.
CDC PLACES: Local Data for Better Health PLACES provides model-based population-level analysis and community estimates to all counties, places (incorporated and census designated places), census tracts, and ZIP Code Tabulation Areas (ZCTAs) across the United States. Estimates are available for asthma and COPD.
